Lucia Flexer-Marshall

Lucia is a Brooklyn-based contemporary dancer and choreographer with a BA in Dance from UC Santa Cruz. Originally from California, she trained at the Oakland Ballet School and Shawl Anderson Dance Center. She has also attended a number of summer intensives: Lines, CSSSA, b12, Henny Jurriens and Camping Paris.

Lucia has performed throughout the Bay Area and New York with companies including Alessandra Corona Performing Works, Ziru Dance, Garrett + Moulton Productions, Fullstop Dance, and TAQ Dance.

As a choreographer, she is drawn to vivid character work and the building of relationships through movement. Her work—created for both film and stage—is expressive, emotionally rich, and often reads like a novel. She is the co-creator of Soap Impressions, a dance film project with her creative partner Joaquin Bear. Their work has been screened at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival, Gibney, Estia Day Fest, and ODD Film Festival, and supported through a residency at Certain Bird in 2023.

Her most recent work, Portrait of Three Sisters, is a contemporary story ballet set to Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor. The piece was created during a 2025 residency at Certain Bird in Stamford, Vermont.
